Unable to establish connection to database (2020/1)

ESI[tronic] 2.0 version 2020/1 – Unable to establish connection to database.


  • ESI[tronic] 2.0 version 2020/1

  • ESI[tronic] 2.0 versions 2019/2 and 2019/3 after a downgrade from ESI[tronic] 2.0 version 2020/1


A) ESI[tronic] 2.0 version 2020/1 reports the adjacent failure indication when starting directly after completed installation.

B) ESI[tronic] 2.0 version 2020/1 reports the adjacent failure indication when starting after a computer restart.


The Windows service "ESItronic 2.0 Database Service" starts too late, not at all or crashes. Without this Windows service no connection to the database can be established and ESI[tronic] 2.0 version 2020/1 does not start.


Service Pack

For the following remedy, admin rights are required!

1. Download the Service Pack "SP-Transbase8-Cleanup" from: http://cdn.esitronic.de/ESI/SP-Transbase8-Cleanup.exe

2. Run "SP-Transbase8-Cleanup.exe" by double-clicking on it.

3. Read and follow the instructions on the screen.

4. Restart the computer.

If the installation of the Service Pack does not solve the problem, the startup behavior of the required Windows service can also be adjusted manually.


For the following remedy, admin rights are required!

1. Open the Windows Start menu and enter "Services" in the search field.

2. Select the service "ESItronic 2.0 Database Service" from the list of displayed Windows services.

3. Select "Right click >> Properties".

4. In the "Start type" drop-down menu, select "Automatic (delayed start)".

"Start error esi runtime is not installed" Error code 4294967290

CodeMeter fails installation due to missing .NET components on the PC.

Solution is to install .NET Framework correctly and then re-install ESI 2.0.

.NET framework is available for online download from Microsoft without any costs.

Diagnostic Download Manager (DDM) pops up several times a day, but no new downloads are offered

Please follow the below corrective steps:

1. Please exit the DDM (right-click on the DDM icon in the taskbar and select EXIT / or ALT+F4).

2. Open the file DownloadHistory.XML_ C:\ProgramData\Bosch\DownloadManager\Downloads\DDMDownloads\

3. Look for the entry "DownloadCompleted" (usually in the first 6-7 lines).

4. Replace line with: <DownloadCompleted> false </ DownloadCompleted>

Not possible to open Diagnostic Device Control (DDC) from ESI[tronic] 2.0. Message: "Please reinstall ESI[tronic] 2.0"

Reason: Corrupted file Rbsystem.ini

Solution: Recover this file or delete it and reinstall all relevant Bosch software

Printing issues with ESI[tronic] 2.0

Acrobat Reader version 8.0< has to be installed on the PC.

Note: Adobe version 10 is included on the ESI 2.0-DVD in the folder software for installation.

Error code: 200 or 263. Error type: Licensing

The non-valid CmActLicense is due to a system recovery. The user has to reactivate the licenses and should repair the service dependencies as follows:

1. Import Bosch init license, e.g. with CodeMeter Control Center in menu-> import license.

2. Reactivate Bosch ESI license.

3. Repair the service dependencies:

A) Open Start->Programs->CodeMeter->Tools->CodeMeter Command Prompt->right-click: "act" as administrator.

B) Select „CodeMeter -u" and „CodeMeter -i" to uninstall CodeMeter and install again with the new service dependencies.

Note: 1. and 2. is conform to the license repair caused by error code:200.

Licensing error: "Missing seed for ESI[tronic] 2.0"

Check if the correct contract is selected (including ESI[tronic] infotypes others than C, M, TSB, P Truck or not).

Check if ESI[tronic] is installed. If not, install ESI[tronic].
